About Yoga and my classes
A yoga class offers relaxing counterbalance to a busy working life. It strengthens the body, calms the mind and improves concentration. And it’s even more than that, a yoga practice offers the employees a space, where they can focus on their breath and their body, which gives them a chance to clear their mind and re-energise to be productive, creative and focused again. A relaxed, clear mind makes the work day enjoyable and more effective.
I teach Vinyasa Flow classes that consist of a combination of dynamic and gentle asanas. The classes can be suited to all levels and ages as I adapt the practice to individual needs and abilities.
My yoga teaching is non-dogmatic and reflects the different styles which I have studied over the years such as Jivamukti, Iyengar, Ashtanga and Yin. My appreciation of different styles is a strong influence on my approach to sequencing: I believe that in carefully sequencing one class, we can draw on what we know from various traditions. I aim to weigh both the physical as well as the energetic elements so that the students will leave the class with a feeling of balance. That is, after all, what yoga is about, to bring us all closer to our own balance in order to become the best version of ourselves, not only on the yoga matt but in our everyday lives. In that way I believe yoga helps us to become better people, enabling us to feel more in touch with ourselves and therefore also more in contact with our surroundings - people and nature alike. Even when there is no time or possibility for a whole yoga practice, there is always time to breathe – and that is a great start.
